In 2015, building on the success of APU’s Ho Chi Minh City campus, Dr. Binh Tran and the APU Educational Development Group were pleased to open the APU American International School in Da Nang City; continuing to provide APU educational quality to Central Vietnam. Less than one year ago, at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, APU American International School launched the APU Bilingual Program, further expanding opportunities for students to enjoy the APU experience. Another highlight of 2015 was the opening ceremony of the American University in Vietnam – AUV. It signaled a bright new day for Vietnamese higher education.

APU American International School has been authorized to offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses by the College Board. Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the examinations. The AP curriculum for each of the various subjects is created for the College Board by a panel of experts and college-level educators in that field of study. Taking AP can help students save money and time as well as stand out to colleges.
Each student in the Middle School is encouraged to develop a sense of their individual strengths as they learn new material and master new intellectual, social and physical skills. Through a variety of subjects, students reason logically, communicate their thoughts clearly, and use factual information to test and support their ideas. The curriculum takes into account the varying rates of speed at which children mature and APU is as concerned with the personal development of its students as with their intellectual growth.
The curriculum for the high school program at APU International School is modeled after those of the top prep schools in the United States. By emulating this system, our school ensures that students receive not just an American education but also a competitive one.
The faculty at our school seeks to provide students with a robust and diverse education through instruction in four core subjects—language arts, mathematics, science, and social science—as well as supplemental and peripheral subjects such as English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer science.

APU International School (APU) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) have partnered to create a unique accelerated program for high school students and recent graduates in Vietnam. Students accepted into College Bridge Program (CBP) can earn a semester, a year, or more of US university credits while enrolled in high school courses or as a recent high school graduate.
Our CBP is the only program of its kind in Vietnam. APU has over a decade of providing US quality education in Vietnam and UMKC is among the top 200 National Universities in the United States. Partnering with UMKC offers APU students an elite advantage for a future of higher education in Vietnam or in the US.
APU’s intensive English Language Development program is designed for students to improve their English skills. English language beginners are able to fully integrate into our US curriculum program within a year. After joining the ELD program, students will be suitably divided into 7 levels. The ELD program is developed to improve students' English in all four aspects - listening, reading, speaking, and writing, as well as other soft skills needed for APU's standardized American academic programs such as critical thinking, research, presentation, etc.

APU graduate Dinh Khang Hy - Currently, Khang Hy is completing the final year of his PhD at Tufts University. He is investigating the mass transport of supercritical carbon dioxide drying of aerogels. Aerogels, also known as the world’s lightest solid, are mesoporous materials that have unique properties such as extremely low bulk density and thermal conductivity best known for applications involving thermal insulation or lightweight plastic replacement.

Duy Ho, graduated from APU as a valedictorian in 2014. He received a full scholarship from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), where he majored in Computer Science. As a result of his academic achievements and active participation in the UMKC student community, Duy was awarded the Dean’s International Scholar Award (DISA) scholarship by UMKC to fund his Master's Degree. Duy won 1st Prize in the prestigious UMKC Hack-A-Roo coding competition in 2019. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence at UMKC.
